With its pre-alpine character, the Gruyère region is ideal for mountainbike. The loop from Charmey to La Berra, which is a wonderful viewpoint, is the perfect proof. Past the monastery of La Valsainte, climb to reach the peak of La Berra which offers an amazing panoramic viewpoint. To the West, you will see the entire Jura chain, to the North, the Mittelland. In the East the Bernese Alps and in the South the striking ridge of the Dents Vertes will amaze you. Take some time to wonder and take some strength back to go down on nice trails in the Jaun Valley.
The tour begins in Charmey and at first follows the main road to Bulle. After a few kilometers you have to turn right then into valley up to the monastery of La Valsiante. Starting from here, an Alpine trail wends its way up to La Berra. The trail's upper section is very steep and difficult. The last few meters you have to push your bike. The subsequent single trail to L'Auta Chia is simply the best. At L'Auta Chia the tour takes you on a road down to La Valsainte. At the monastery the tour makes a left turn which leads into the valley. At the other side of the valley an easy single trail takes you back to Charmey.
